CLE 3202.Math.1 Understand the mathematical principles behind the science of physics.
CLE 3202.Math.2 Utilize appropriate mathematical equations and processes to solve basic physics problems.
CLE 3202.3.1 Investigate the relationships among speed, position, time, velocity, and acceleration.
93202.3.6 Collect data to construct, analyze, and interpret graphs, for experiments that involve distance, speed, velocity, and time.
93202.3.7 Solve problems related to velocity, acceleration.
CLE 3202.4.2 Relate gravitational force to mass.
93202.4.1 Demonstrate the effect of gravity on objects.
Description of Project:
Graph interpretation and mathematical computation of the data due to gravity
Materials:
EV3, balls, meter stick, tape,The Lego Mindstorms EV3 Idea Book by Yoshihito Isogawa pp142-143 and pp206-207
Plans to Use in Class:
Pre-test prior day of the lesson
Students will predict on a provided w/s in pen the outcome of the velocity vs. time graph qualitatively and explain prior to the teacher demonstration
Teacher will perform the lab using the ev3 to produce a computer generated velocity vs. time graph
Student will return to the prediction w/s and place the the results from the generated results and try to explain
Teacher will lead discussion of the results and define terms with the students as a class
Students will work in small groups gathering the data manually. make a graph, and create a mathematical model for the falling objects. They will determine the acceleration due to gravity.
